Manchester's Graffiti/Street Art

So, anyone who's from or ever been to Manchester and knows about the Northern Quarter, you will know it's quite an arty area, there's always a lot of street art around, ranging from stickers to stencils to spray.

I was in and around the Northern Quarter on Wednesday just gone, 10th October, spending the day photographing anything 'street' for another project I have running but which ties in nicely with this.

Here's a few examples of the work in and around that area...

As you can see there's quite a wide range of different styles in the area but the ones I'm most intrigued about are the 'Alice' ones. Now the artist we've got to research is called Miss Van, real name Vanessa Alice Bensimon, yes, that's right Alice! Now if they're the same person then this is an awesome coincidence but I doubt it? I guess I'll just have to dig a little deeper...

Introduction...

Hello and welcome,

For this module I don't actually need a blog for submission but I've set it up my own research purposes.

We have to write an essay using the following image as a starting point and opening up an academic discussion...

I'm looking forward to getting stuck into the research on this brief as I'm a big fan of street art/ graffiti, when it's done in a classy way.
